Chapter 11: Developing Good Habits: Brushing Grass

Pro Tips (from the book!)

• The sweet spot for irons is two to three grooves up from the bottom of the clubface in the center.

• To hit the sweet spot, swinging slightly downward is key.

• By swinging slightly downward, you will brush the grass and create the proper brush zone.

• The brush zone should start at the ball and extend slightly past it. Swinging with no ball and using the tee as a reference point and then progressing to the runway drill is a great way to practice this.

• Irons are designed to be hit this way and courses are equipped to handle the divots, so don’t let fears of hitting slightly down stop you!
