Chapter 13: The Backswing

Pro Tips (from the book!)

• The backswing is the action of taking the club from setup position to the top of your swing.

• In general, it is better to have a shorter, correct backswing as opposed to a longer back-swing with incorrect movements.

• The crossed-arm drill where you get into your proper golf posture, cross your arms, and place a club between your arms, can help you practice and feel backswing rotation. From there, work on rotating back with your shoulders, turning the shirt buttons of a polo shirt to the right of the target.

• You should finish the backswing with your left shoulder between your legs in line with the ball and your chin over your shoulder.

• At the top backswing position, you should also see your belt buckle pointing towards your right foot.
