Chapter 10: Developing Good Habits: Following Through
Pro Tips (from the book!)
• Developing a proper release and follow-through is crucial to good contact. We are looking for a fluid motion in which you swing through the ball without decelerating and stopping at impact.
• The end goal is for your hat, chin, chest and belt buckle to all end up pointing at your target. This is nearly impossible and unnatural without properly pivoting your back foot.
• Pivoting your back foot will aid in leading the downswing with your lower body and help get your weight forward as you hit. You want both of those things.
• With the back-foot pivot, the goal is for the sole of your foot to be visible to someone standing directly behind you.
