Chapter 16: Hitting Driver

Pro Tips (from the book!)

• The driver can provide you with more distance, which is helpful when playing longer holes and courses.

• Setup, backswing, and downswing principles of the iron still apply to the driver, with only some subtle differences.

• The ball should be positioned in line with the inside of your left foot. Your feet can be a bit wider than with the irons at address, while also adding some upper-body bend, in which your right shoulder is slightly lower than your left and your shirt buttons are a bit right of the ball.

• The golf ball should be placed on a tee at a height so that it is basically cut in half by the top of the driver head. You can move the ball lower or higher based on your tendencies.

• These setup adjustments are in place to give you the best chance to hit slightly upward on the ball, as opposed to downward, like with an iron
